Canada has over 700 breweries spread around its great expanse. To drink from the best of them in one place, put The Great Canadian Beer Festival on your must-visit list. It takes place annually in Victoria, British Columbia, in early September, and celebrated its 25th festival in 2017. Each of the 60-plus breweries attending brings a bunch of their best and most interesting beers. Tickets go on sale in July and sell out quickly (see www.gcbf.com for more details).

Cask Days is Canada’s celebration of cask-conditioned ale. In late October every year, the organizers fill an old factory in Toronto with over 400 casks of ale made by over 200 different brewers, with many breweries supplying something new and unique for the much-celebrated event. The venue is graffitied, urban, and cool. There’s good coffee and great food. The crowd is young. There are cask beer festivals every week all around the UK and almost all of them could learn something from Cask Days about how exciting and interesting a festival like this can be. Check out www.caskdays.com.
Cask Days is a super example of how to present a traditional product in a modern light that appeals to all types of beer lover.
