Vacation spots in hawaii on Bachemin, Johnnie (V) During five years of playing Tuesday through Saturday nights at the French Quarter Royal Sonesta Hotel and its popular nightclub, the Mystick Den Lounge, the Johnnie Bachemin Trio built a strong local and tourist following performing Broadway tunes and jazz. Group leader and pianist Johnnie Bachemin was the main attraction at the Bourbon Street landmark. In the early 1970s while an understudy to Sammy Davis, Jr., in the Broadway show Mr. Lucky, Bachemin suffered an onstage fall during rehearsal that ended his dancing career. Turning to piano, Bachemin twice appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show, and reached a career peak when the Louisiana Symphony Orchestra honored him in November 1997 by performing the world premiere of his composition Pyramids: A Classical Jazz Rhapsody. Orchestrated by Jay Weigel, director of the New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center, plans were set with Bachemin to record a CD of the piece in August 1998. Vacation spots in hawaii 2016.
