Venues beside or close to the London River
Greenwich Park will host the Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian competitions. There will be 19 events devoted to Jumping, Dressage, Eventing and Paralympic Equestrian. A temporary Cross-Country course is being constructed in the upper part of the Park, while a temporary main arena area will be provided in front of the National Maritime Museum. In addition the Modern Pentathlon will be held in the Park as a combined running and shooting event.
North Greenwich Arena and the O2 Arena, located on the Greenwich Peninsula close to North Greenwich station on the Jubilee Line, will host Artistic Gymnastics, Trampoline, Basketball and Wheelchair Basketball. There will be 20 events.

The Royal Artillery Barracks at Woolwich on the edge of Woolwich Common will host the Shooting events, Paralympic Shooting and Paralympic Archery events. Olympic Archery will take place at Lords Cricket Ground at St John’s Wood close to Regent Park.
Hadleigh Farm, near Lee-on-See, Essex, overlooking the marshes and the estuary on the North Bank of the Thames, will host the Mountain Bike events.
The Olympic Stadium in the south of the Olympic Park at Stratford has a seating capacity of 80,000. There will be 208 events.
The Basketball Arena is located in the north of the Olympic Park. It will host Basketball, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Rugby and the final stage of a Handball Competition. There will be seven events.
The Aquatics Centre is part of the gateway to the Olympic Park. It will host Diving, Swimming, Synchronised Swimming, Paralympic Swimming and the Modern Pentathlon. There will be 192 events.
The BMX Track is in the north part of the Olympic Park. It will host two events of BMX Cycling.
