Then, they move on to the finishers, who sand down mould seams and sand away any unsightly bubbles before sending it off for a prime coat of lacquer, another sanding and then finally, paint, makeup, and wigs.Click. Big moulds and huge ovens. Click. Ragged edges being sanded away by strange-looking people in masks and head scarves. Click.

The television lounge was out of bounds to the DC although most would lurk in the doorway if there was an interesting programme showing. Fire rounds were undertaken every hour, looking in each room (which were always known as cabins’) to make sure all was well.
