The excursion in fact starts here, in Lloseta, where we proceed to Alaro, 8 kms. away, with its typical neighbourhood called Las d’Amunds one of the oldest in the island. There are also some shoe factories here. At some distance there is a castle, to which we have already refered in the chapter about the mountains : Son Forteza, Solleric, Son Bergues, Son Grau, Son Antem, Banyols, etc.
From Alaro the road runs up along the mountain side on which the castle stands. On the other side of the road is the mountain of S’Alcadena, passing through the estates Son Curt, Son Cladera, y S’Olivaret, finally reaching a height from where we have a beautiful view of the Solleric valley, with the mountains in the background. The road runs through olive fields and comes to Orient, a small hamlet 10 kms. above sea level. This is a starting point for many mountain walks, mentioned in the corresponding chapter. We continue along the valley and descend to Buhola, a railway station on the railway line between Palma & Soller. Surrounded by mountains of which Se Comuna is the most interesting. There is a good road to the top where one can find a beautiful view of the island plain.
From Bunola, we take the Palma-Soller road. After 14 kms. in the region of C’an Penasso, there is an old inn where the carts and carriages stopped to change horses on their way from Palma to Soller and vice versa. After following this road 12
more kms. we come across the gardens and mansions of Alfabia and Raxa, with their gardens and fountains, all of which have been described in excursion N. 2. We leave the Palma-Soller road and take the road which passing through Son Termes leads to S’Esglaieta with its small chapel and small population, being 11 kms. away on the Palma-Valldemosa road. We leave this road, take the deviation which goes along the Canet Valley, at the entrance to which we can see some remarkable gardens, and magnificent steps and 5 kms. further on we find ourselves in the village of Esporlas which we ought to go through. Having done so we come to the estate known as Sa Graje (The Farm), well known for its mansion house, patio, gateway and gardens.Source: Map tract
