Algarve Portugal Me a Villa, Seafood, And Sandy Coves

Summer holidays are a yearly ritual for me. You can therefore understand the effort I put into the selection of holiday destinations. In some cases, not even long hours of scouring through TripWolf could help me avoid complete disasters and in other cases, I was completely blown away by what I saw. The bad experiences will be revisited some other time but today, I’d like to talk about my amazing experience in Algarve Portugal.

Fell in Love With The Algarve Immediately

From the moment that warm Mediterranean air hit me and I looked around at the beautiful sandy coves to go exploring I fell in love with this place I travelled alone and stayed at Pine Cliffs Resort. I booked a villa accommodation and wasn’t sure of what to expect but I was left very impressed from the very first minute I arrived.

All About The Accommodation

Most of the time in the past, I’ve had to immediately ask for a change of accommodation after what I booked online turns out to be less than stellar in reality but on this occasion, I was very impressed. The room was spacious, clean and had most of the things you’d want in a holiday accommodation. From HD TV to a fully stocked kitchen, it was indeed majestic. Throw in the ever courteous staff all around grounds and you have a winning combination.

Magnificent View

If you haven’t guessed already from the name, Pine Cliffs resort is set in a picturesque environment with pine trees as the main backdrop. However, the pines are just half the story. I found the deep blue ocean, the clean beach and magnificent golf course to be every inch as lovely as they looked in images. Every part of the resort was designed to seamlessly interface with the amazing landscape to provide everyone with an amazing experience.

Eating and Drinking in the Algarve

The cuisine at Pine Cliffs resorts is magnificent. I embraced the full board option so I enjoyed lovely Portuguese flavours and the countless variations of served by the highly qualified chefs. If you are visiting the resort, I’d recommend trying out the steak at the Piri Piri restaurant and the seafood at the Beach Club restaurant. The setting of the Beach Club restaurant means customers always enjoy high quality delicacies while overlooking the Atlantic and the magnificent Algarvian coastline. For more local places nearby to try some grilled sardines, and salted cod known baccalau’ as well try this handy Algarve app! I used often to explore.

Exploring Nearby Towns & Villages: Vilamoua

I love to explore the area I am staying in. I love a nice setted place with great food and things to do (the wonderful golf course and pool) that I can use as a base to go exploring. Vilamoura is around 5k away from the resort and has a stunning harbour and marina and is very quiet and full of the Portuguese posh. This is where many famous Portuguese movie stars live! I had some more great grilled fish. After if you want a trip away from the beach you can drive (or in my case taxi) following the river to Monchique which has a natural spring and is the highest point in the Algarve. You can drive to Lisbon in 4 hours as well but that was a stretch too far for me.

Friendly Resort

I travelled alone but from the activities around the resort, it is obvious that this is a family-friendly haven. There are children clubs categorised according to their age brackets and each club has a long list of fun activities that leave both parents and children very happy. There are also children swimming pools. The indoor children’s pool is heated so children could still enjoy some splash about when the weather isn’t really optimal for getting in the water.

For adults, there are lots of activities to complement all that food, wine and picture clicking. I personally enjoyed the bicycle tours and the wine tasting sessions!

I haven’t returned to a holiday destination at any time in the past but Algarve could change all that!
